So the roof has been haunting me for a couple of weeks now. Thankfully, I had the opportunity to pick up a free topbar hive from a beek (beekeeper) up in Tampa, and his top was inspiration to finally finish ours here at Hot Rock Acres.

I had to make bars for his hive. Luckily they will be interchangeable! Here are pictures.

How they fit in his. Ours will have a little bigger space between side wall and the bar.

There are qty 32 of the 1 1/4 inch wide bars (brood) and qty 31 of the 1 1/2 inch wide bars (honey).

Yay, now apply some Lemongrass oil (Cymbopogon citratus) we got at the whole foods store and hopefully get a local swarm to take up residence.

Yesterday, it seemed like it rained ALL day long. We ended up getting 2.9 inches. The irrigation gets a rest for a few days while this all soaks in.

Our potato patch has started to take off and about a dozen plants have sprouted.

The “Isis Candy” heirloom tomatoes we purchased are doing well with the tallest plant nearly 5 feet now and all of them have tomatoes of various sizes. This is the biggest and most ripe one

The Temple tangerine tree we got recently is blooming and smells amazing. I haven’t seen any bees on it yet, but I’m not always out there

We just picked the last Meyer lemon and it is ready to bloom again.

The Pitaya (Dragonfruit) wasn’t doing much, so I pruned it, staked it to a thick piece of bamboo and it is resprouting new shoots

This pineapple is nearly a year old now and still growing and doing well
